Lesley started playing the violin aged 8, later training at The Royal Academy of Music, London. One of her early tutors was Pauline Crothers, who herself trained under the renowned Fritz Kreisler, considered one of the most famous violin masters of his day. Lesley cites Pauline as her biggest influence and to this day she still plays one of Pauline’s violins, the Hudson.

Lesley has toured Europe extensively, performing in Paris, Rome, Salzburg, and Vienna, as well as having given solo performances and master classes in Sweden. Performances further afield include both West and East Africa; Easter 2010 saw Lesley teaming up to perform with a violinist on the island of Zanzibar.

Closer to home, Lesley has played with The London Symphony Orchestra at venues such as The Royal Albert Hall and Westminster Abbey, most notably as part of the Queen Mother’s 70th Birthday celebrations.

She has toured with renowned composer and conductor Vilem Tausky, CBE, and has also played under the batons of Guy Woolfenden, Jonathan Delmar and Simon Rattle, to name but a few.

Lesley’s music teaching experience includes stints at The Royal Academy of Music, London, where she taught junior exhibitioners; ILEA London; North Oxfordshire Music Service, where she also inspired children to learn to play the African Djembe; and currently in Warwickshire. The number of accomplished, young musicians that have flourished, and indeed continue to do so, under Lesley’s tutelage is testament to the devotion she has to the classical music genre.

Equally happy playing orchestral or chamber music, Lesley’s passion for the violin shines through in every performance she gives.

Sam Mason started to play the violin at the age of five. The award of two scholarships from the Martin Musical Trust enabled him to continue his studies full time at the Royal Academy of Music, where he studied with Carmel Kaine and, later, Howard Davis.

Between 1995 and 1997 Sam made several recordings of violin and piano music, with pianist Yoriko Wakabayashi, for the 'Oxford Classics' label. These included sonatas by Mozart, Schumann and Brahms, as well as works by Schubert and Wieniawski.

Sam performs regularly with the Midland Chamber Players. He has taught throughout the West Midlands and is currently a violin tutor at the Royal Birmingham Junior Conservatoire.

Andrew began playing the violin aged 10 with Barbara Baker. He studied at the Coventry School of Music (as was then), furthering his studies at the Birmingham Conservatoire under Philip Long, Angela Richey, James Davis and Jeremy Ballard.

During the 80’s he worked frequently with the BBC Midland Radio Orchestra at Pebble Mill, Birmingham. He has played with the English String Orchestra as well as for TV and theatre work in London and the Midlands. He now plays with the Orchestra da Camera, freelances, and enjoys playing chamber music with The Midland Chamber Music Players.

He has taught at the Birmingham Conservatoire for many years and is presently teaching and conducting for Warwickshire County Music Service and Princethorpe College. Andrew is also a long standing member of the European String Teachers Association. Andrew has brought his extended musical experience to Fidelis since joining as principle violinist in 2012.

Maurice trained at the Coventry and also Colchester school of Music where he studied cello with Percy Crozier. A regular member of 4 orchestras - Beauchamp Sinfonietta, Coventry Symphony Orchestra, Leamington Chamber Orchestra and Principal Cellist for Warwickshire Symphony Orchestra.

Also played in many opera performances and shows throughout the Central Midlands. Enjoys playing and performing chamber music in a variety of ensembles including piano and string trios and quartets and in addition cello and guitar duos. Maurice is an established solo artist in his own right.

In his capacity as a teacher, Maurice has taught cello at Coventry and Warwick University and North Warwickshire College. He also taught for both Coventry and Warwickshire music services and various independent schools such as Arnold Lodge, Bablock, Henry VIII and Warwick.
